After a week off from OBI Blog posts,,, we are back with the 411 on the past two weeks of play ... Give or Take anyways ...
Week 3 saw OBI take it on the chin with a doubleheader loss at the hands of Jaft. We hit well, however, the Defense was not solid enough to beat a good team on the big field,,, #5 ...
Week 4 was all about attrition ... Ricky is out a few weeks with an Achilles and sprained ankle issue. KC was driving a taxi (transportation for his daughter to her games)... Nuta, Matt, and Michael were fighting head colds ... Annnnnnnd JR ,,, making a play on a runner barreling into home plate,,, tags the runner out yet ends up with an Achilles and sprained ankle issue. Oh yeah, and Steve-O, who was going to fill in for JR the remainder of the season,,, injured his knee and is out for the foreseeable future ... All I can say is,,, Medic !!!
Fill Ins helped out tremendously... Steve racked up 3 Walks and Juan Reynoso stepped into KC's shoes for the night and powered out 2 Big Flys ...
OBI scored 39 runs and played pretty good D ... This scored wins of 18-11 and 21-10 ... Chris Spillane robbed Dirty Dozen's HR hitter by bringing a ball back into the park on a catch that all of us only dream about... Well played Spillane !!!
Almost forgot ,,, in the last inning of the second game with none out and runners on first and second,,, or was it bases loaded,,, anyways,,, OBI turned their first Triple Play of 2013 !!! Mainly thanks to the runner from second being called out by the blue since he ran a bit outa the baseline... But, hey, we will take it !!!

One Bad Inning scored a doubleheader sweep at BMW-North Scottsdale's expense taking both games, winning 9-5 and 13-10 ...
OBI welcomed newbie Andy,,, and returning players Humberto and Dre' ... Each contributed both on offensive and defense to the sweep...
Game One was a tight defensive battle with BMW only able to push across runs in two innings during OBI's 9-5 win ...
Game Two was highlighted by a few good plays by our second basemen,,, Andy and Keith. However, what stands out most are the HRs for Outs by Spillane and Andy,,, giving OBI 5 Big Flys for the game ... Quite the rarified air we played in Thursday night ...
Another anomaly was both games going the full 7 innings ... Not sure what planet we were playing on last night,,, but it did start raining the last inning of game 2 ...
Though we were not playing on Field 6 ,,, there was a headache to be found ... Matt collided with a ball thrown by the shortstop ,,, or maybe the ball hit him ... Either way, Matt was able to finish out the game,,, and good news, the ball will be ok.
Get better Matt,,, cya next week ...

Fresh off their 3rd Place finish in the Best of Victory Lane tournament to top off a fine 2012,,, One Bad Inning took an opening week doubleheader from Audi-Scottsdale North with two hard fought battles, winning 16-15 and 16-12 ...
Audi started the night off an 11 spot in the top of the first. As we have seen many times in the past, OBI scored 8 to answer in the bottom half of the inning. Playing good D, the Boiz of OBI (calendars available in the Victory Lane gift shop, lol) then finished the game by scoring 5 in the bottom of the 5th to take game One 16-15 ...
Game 2 was close the entire way and OBI outscored Audi 7-3 over the final two innings to break a 9-9 tie and take the game 16-12 ...
The night was filled with timely hitting and some excellent defensive plays. Ryno's dive to snare a line drive in RF was pivotal, Larry pitched very well in the cross wind, and Michael got his hoodie all dirty with a nice stop on a double play attempt.
Offensively,,, good hustle, timely hitting, improved baserunning,,, and back to back drives by Matt & JR highlighted the night... Ok, their popups were classic, and it was cold ~n~ all ... 'Nuff Said ...
Leave a comment if you recall some highlights I missed. Am 2nd oldest on the team and have short term memory issues,,, but I digress ...
Next weeks games are not scheduled yet,,, but do plan to be there next week. We will be missing Nuta for the next 3 weeks ,,, so will need all hands on deck,,, or in the hole...
Anyways ,,, let me know if you think we need to make any changes stat wise... Ohhhh yaaaaa,, forgot that we added a new category as Michael recorded a Stolen Base last night in the first game by stealing home ... Money,,, Out !!! ;~)
